Last week when I was writing about Bob Moog’s birthday and related coincidences, I forgot about one interesting one.
Shortly after I started working at Moog, I ran into some older, non-musician Egyptian friends and told then about my then new job. They looked at me puzzled and asked “why’d they name the company that”? After I told them about it being named after the founder Bob Moog and more about the products, they said “that’s strange… “moog” is Arabic for “wave”“.
Yesterday on Facebook I told some people that I would write the story of the events surrounding Bob Moog’s birthday in 2007. The whole story spans far beyond 2007… from the late 60s through today. Here goes…

It’s late evening, May 23, 2012. Bob Moog’s birthday. It has been a great day with people remembering Bob in many ways. His birthday five years ago was a very special event in some very different ways. Michelle Moog-Koussa and I have been talking about writing about it ever since.
